THE STAKEHOLDER’S MEETING TO DEVELOP NEW WAYS, APPROACHES, AND STRATEGIES FOR ADDRESSING CHALLENGES AFFECTING YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN HIGHLY GROWING SECTORS IN ARUSHA FROM 1ST TO 3RD JUNE 2022
STAWI has been executing its community development activities in the following thematic areas: Agriculture, Environment, Water, Education, Health, and Natural Resources Management within and outside the Arusha region for more than three (3) years now. In fulfilling its development activities, the organization has been actively working with young people as well as women in projects which aim to grow and develop their economy in collaboration with various development partners and stakeholders in the country.
In fulfilling this role of supporting/serving various groups in Tanzanian society, STAWI has continued to see a very small increase in youth development growth despite significant investments that have been made for youth through various development partners including the government. So we have been wondering and asking ourselves “Where are we stuck or what has won us over?
In response to these questions, STAWI has decided to organize a stakeholders meeting to share experiences by discussing and analyzing challenges that hinder the development of youth in the Arusha region by involving development stakeholders from Arusha City, Meru DC, Monduli DC, Arusha DC, Longido DC and Ngorongoro DC. The composition of stakeholders will be representative from The Ministry of Agriculture, The Ministry of Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, and Youth and the Disabled, The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Selected youth groups, civil servants, representatives from local and international organizations involved in youth affairs, Micro Finance Institutions and Banks, Companies dealing with value addition operations in highly growing sectors, etc.
Members of the meeting will meet to discuss and share experiences on many issues regarding youth development under the theme titled “New Ways, Approaches, and Strategies of Addressing Challenges Affecting Youth Developmental Initiatives in Highly Growing Sectors (Agriculture and Tourism) in Arusha“. The conference will be held over a period of three days (1st -3rd June 2022) and fifty (50) stakeholders from the Horticulture, Cereals, Dairy, Poultry, Honey, Fish, Forestation, Alternative Charcoal, and Tourism sectors will attend. We believe that these are the fastest growing sectors and that make the biggest contribution to youth employment opportunities in the Arusha region.
