POLICY ADVOCACY
The Societies Transformation And Welfare Improvement – (STAWI) is a Nonprofit, Non -Governmental Organization (NGO) that responds to the aspirations of people around Tanzania who live in democratic societies that recognize and promote basic human rights. Since its founding in 2020, STAWI and its local partners have worked to support and strengthening citizen participation in different developmental interventions specifically farmers involvement in agricultural value chains programs through their Farmers Based Organizations (FBOs) and or through Agriculture and Marketing Cooperatives Societies (AMCOS) and be in the position to questing the government regarding their agricultural rights and favors as well as be openness and accountable the government.
With professional staff members, volunteers, developmental scholars, activists and practitioners across East Africa, STAWI brings together individuals and groups to share ideas, knowledge, experiences and expertise. Partners receive broad exposure to best practices in development matters that can be adapted to the needs at their own localities. STAWI’s national approach reinforces the message that “While there is no single democratic model in any form of developmental call, certain core principles are shared by all democracies”.
The NGO’s work upholds the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It also promotes the development of Organizational channels of communications among Citizens, Groups SMEs, Institutions and Elected Officials, and call to strengthening their ability to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
